Tombstone Tuesday – Cora Pauline Walters
Cora Pauline’s Tombstone is the first non-family member’s tombstone that I’ve posted here.
She is buried at the Osborne Township Cemetery, Sumner County, Mayfield, Kansas, and she is buried very near some of my family members.
Cora Pauline Walters
Born: May 5th, 1915
Died: June 6th, 2000
I’ve found her tombstone unique, heartwarming, and fascinating, but have yet to look up her obituary, or try to learn who she was.
I hope to do more research on her this winter in local newspapers.

I love this picture and this tombstone. So sweet.
Thank you for the great comments! This was the first time I had posted non-family tombstones, but it won’t be the last! I’ve seen some very interesting and elegant older tombstones in the local cemetery.
Cora’s tombstone is wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome! Thanks for stopping by. I’ve always been moved by this tombstone. It is just a few feet (on either side) from close family members, my dad on the north side of this, and my grandparents and great-grandparents on the south.
I think it’s great that you posted this. I would love to hear more about her. Very unique headstone.
Thank you, and thank you for stopping by. The stone has fascinated me for some time, so I will try to spend some time with the census and the newspaper microfilm at the library to learn more. Certainly has to be a story behind this stone, and I may never learn that. Perhaps I will find that I know some of Cora’s descendants (it’s almost unusual for me not to in this particular cemetery!) and I may find someone that I can ask! Have a great New Year!
